Now, there are many castles throughout Slovakia and the rest of Eastern Europe, but if you could only visit just one then I would recommend this one. Spissky Hrad, located between Poprad and Kosice, is the largest medieval castle that is still standing today and when you draw near to the place, it seems hard to comprehend the scene – the surrounding countryside and the great fortifications that stretch out

With a little imagination it is easy to see how this was probably the most impressive castle of its time. If you were a peasant of that time, then I dare say that it would have made you awe at the power of those inside.
